Proceedings

The complete set of Proceedings of the IAU XXIX General Assembly is comprised of the Proceedings from each of the six Symposia, and the Astronomy in Focus Vol. 1 (previously 'Highlights in Astronomy with Special Sessions and Joint Discussions'), which covers the twenty-two Focus Meetings. One volume of the Proceedings is included in the IAU Member and Non-Member registration rate. You will get to select one volume of the Proceedings during the Registration process. Additional Proceedings will be available for purchase for $US 70 each:

Presenter Instructions

Poster Presenters

  • Each poster is scheduled to be displayed for one week only: 3-7 August or 10-14 August. If you do not know which week your poster is scheduled for, please contact abstracts@astronomy2015.org.
  • The maximum size for the poster is 44in/112cm height and 44in/112cm width.
  • You will display your poster next to your individual Abstract ID. If you do not know your Abstract ID, please contact abstracts@astronomy2015.org.
  • Poster presenters will be provided with a poster board and tacks to hang the posters.
  • Authors are responsible for mounting and dismounting their own posters. Posters left up after the exhibit hall closes at the end of the week will be discarded.
  • When preparing your poster, remember to use bold graphs, photographs, figures, and tables. Include a title and the names of authors in a large font. Text should be large enough to be legible from a distance of three to four feet (~20 point font). Keep the poster simple and easy to read.

Oral Presenters

  • All presentations for oral sessions will be submitted to the Speaker Ready Room where they will be distributed to the appropriate computer by our technicians.
  • The computers in the speaker ready room and each of the session rooms are exactly alike. If your presentation looks good in the speaker ready room, it will look good in the session room.
  • If your presentation has audio, please inform a technician in the speaker ready room.
  • It is strongly recommended that you test your presentation in the speaker ready room at least 4 hours before your presentation.
  • A technician will be in the speaker ready room all day to assist you. Please feel free to drop by and ask questions.

Media Files:

  • If your presentation includes movies or animations please make sure to bring them with you to the speaker ready room for uploading, even if you chose to "embed" your media files.
  • Executable Presentations (e.g. Prezi)
    • If your presentation is an executable file (e.g. Prezi), please visit the Speaker Ready Room at least 4 hours before your scheduled talk to ensure compatibility.
  • File Names:
    • The presentation file may be named whatever you wish. There are no naming requirements for the presentation system.
  • Drop Off:
    • Bring your presentation on a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or USB flash disk to the speaker ready room at least one day in advance of your session.

  • The presentation file may be named whatever you wish. There are no naming requirements for the presentation system.
  • When using PowerPoint for Windows or Mac, please save your file as .pptx.

Submit Your Presentation File

In The Session

  • You may not use your own computer for your presentation, one will be provided.
  • You will control your presentation on the laptop computer provided in the session room.
  • Your presentation will load automatically in the session room.
  • All presentations must be deposited at the speaker ready room for proper functioning.

Audiovisual Equipment

  • The following equipment is provided in each session: projector,screen, presentation laptop, podium microphone, laser pointer, and wireless microphone for Q&A.
  • You may not use your own laptop to give your presentation. The presentations are synced to the podium computer using a database system run from the Speaker Ready Room.
  • Under no circumstances should you remove cables or connectors on the podium computer or other audiovisual equipment.
